Study programme's generic objectives: a) Analyze the problems health / disease at national level; b) Participate as a nurse and a citizen in the preparation of proposals for intervention in the problems of health / disease; c) To carry out health education, using appropriate teaching methodologies; d) Identify changes physio-psycho-pathological conditions in humans in order to support the delivery of care; e) Analyze the unique situations of each individual / family duality health / disease and nursing intervention; f) Apply preventive measures at primary, secondary and tertiary sectors, using the resources of the team coordinating them with other, extra, intra and inter - institutional; g) Advancing institutional management methods, team work and intervention personnel / family in line with the guidance in nursing; h) Develop capacity within the production / consumption research in nursing care.

Objectives

Competencies published by the Association of Nurses (2003) for general care nurses, selected and analyzed with the skills Tuning (Tuning Educational Structures in Europe, Phase II ©). The operationalization of the objectives is made to the constant updating of scientific evidence in each course, whether T and P and TP and in clinical teaching. Objectives and competencies are delineated according to the developmental stage of the student group. The measurement of success is accomplished through individual testing, brainstorming, group work, presentation of papers, role-playing, portfolios, and conducting case studies with documentation standards in language classified (CIPE), education sessions for health and domiciliary visits. In teaching and learning strategies, are evaluated quantitatively and qualitatively knowledge and skills, and clinical education also supported by tutors from clinical practice

Admission Requirements

Those interested can apply for the course through one of the following national competitions organized by DGES: National Competition for Access and Admission to Public Higher Education; and Special Regimes. Application may also be possible through the following special competitions, organized by the University of the Azores: Special Competitions for Access and Admission to the University of the Azores (Over 23 Years, Holders of Technological Specialization Diploma, Holders of Higher Professional Technician Diploma, Holders of Other Higher Education Courses, Holders of dual certification courses in secondary education and specialized artistic courses); Regimes of Re-entry and Change of Institution / Course; Special competition for access and admission of international students to the University of the Azores. In all cases, the application is dependent on the candidates' compliance with the conditions required for this purpose.
