Presentation

- Develop knowledge and skills for specialized intervention, which allow acting autonomously in the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of interventions in Maternal and Obstetric Health Nursing (MOHNS); - Practice specialized Nursing based on levels of clinical judgment and decision-making, taking into account the human responses to life processes and health problems; - Promote safety and quality in MOHNS care, promoting research, evidence-based practice and in accordance with ethical and deontological standards; - Train for clinical management, team and project leadership, as well as supervision and care management in different contexts of clinical practice; - Contribute to the development of MOHNS as a discipline and specialized training.

Objectives

- Demonstrate scientific, technical, ethical and cultural competences in the design, provision, management and supervision of nursing care to the woman/family/community throughout the reproductive cycle. - Demonstrate skills to diagnose, plan, execute and evaluate maternal and obstetric health nursing interventions to women/family, bearing in mind the promotion of health and a healthy transition to parenthood. - Develop a professional, ethical and legal practice that ensures professional responsibilities and quality of care in the area of specialty based on scientific evidence. - Caring for the woman/family/community in the scope of family planning, pre-conception period, prenatal, labor, post-natal, climacteric and gynecological health/disease. - Integrate knowledge, make decisions and manage complex situations, based on professional and social responsibilities.

Admission Requirements

. Hold a bachelor's degree in nursing or legal equivalent or a foreign higher academic degree or holder of a school, scientific or professional curriculum, recognized as attesting to the ability to carry out this cycle of studies, under the terms provided for in article 17 of the Decree -law 74/2006 of March 24 and subsequent amendments. 2. Hold the professional title of nurse. 3. Have at least two years of professional practice as a nurse at the time of enrollment in the aforementioned course, a condition provided for in article 12 of Ordinance No. 268/2002 of March 13, for the attribution of the title of specialist by the Professional Association.

Professional Opportunities

Opting for the Professional Internship with Final Report, confers the professional title of Specialist Nurse in Maternal Health and Obstetric Nursing from the Order of Nurses.
