The recent revolution in technology has been based on the use of increasingly sophisticated Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (AA) algorithms. These currently allow the identification of objects and people in real time, automatic translation, sentiment analysis of written text and even voice interaction through artificial agents. Robotics, on the other hand, has evolved towards an increasingly sophisticated human-machine interaction. This evolution makes it increasingly urgent to update knowledge in the areas of AI, AA and its application in the areas of robotics, whether in professional contexts, in the areas of engineering and informatics in general, or in the areas of training (e.g. primary schools, secondary and professional). The PRIA postgraduate course introduces these areas, providing trainees with the bases for an autonomous deepening in each of them.

Objectives

The aim of the PRIA is to provide current knowledge and skills on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning and know how to apply them in the specific context of Robotics and Educational Robotics. The course is aimed at everyone who wants to acquire knowledge and/or deepen skills in areas related to Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (AA) and Robotics. In particular, it is aimed at: - Professionals with an interest in the emerging areas of AI, AA and Robotics. - Teachers of basic, secondary and professional education with an interest in the areas of technology and/or associated with programming and robotics clubs in the respective schools. - Any professional who wishes to acquire skills in the areas of the course.

Admission Requirements

Holders of a bachelor's degree or legally equivalent qualification and holders of an academic, scientific or professional curriculum recognized by the Scientific Council of the University of the Azores as attesting the ability to attend the course may apply for the course.

Professional Opportunities

The course develops skills in the areas of programming in contexts of simulation and interaction with robots and educational robots, as well as in areas of application of AI and AA algorithms. For this reason, the course qualifies trainers, teachers of basic, secondary and professional schools, as well as other professionals in the area of ​​informatics, in the use of robotics for training in areas of education, in preparation for specialization in robotics in general and for the training in the use of AI and AA algorithms.
