Objectives

Internship and report:

- proficiently conduct activities in the ecotourism field;

- critically analyse the implemented activities and attained goals;

- propose possible improvement suggestions in current ecotourism activities.

Project and report:

- develop a project including a solid theoretical framework; detailed description; clear aims; target tourism sector; type of activities to be undertaken considering the target environment; positive and negative impacts; and mitigation actions, when applicable.

Teaching Methodologies

The students can opt to undertake an internship at an ecotourism company, or to design a guiding/interpretation activity (project).

Project

A project description including a chronogram will be prepared by the student at the beginning of the semester, under the tutors’ guidance.

A short pilot phase allowing initial interaction with stakeholders will be encouraged.

A report will be developed along the project and include a critical analysis of the project structure and suggested implementation, including possible changes or improvements resulting from contacts with stakeholders, and from the pilot stage.

Weekly meetings with tutors will be scheduled.

Internship

A host company will be contacted among the previously engaged stakeholders and a program, including a chronogram, will be prepared at the beginning. The document will contain a contextual framework, aims for the internship and a description of the activities to be undertaken by the student.

A report will be prepared by the student, written along the duration of the internship, accompanied by the tutors.

Weekly meetings with the tutors will be scheduled.
