Objectives

The present curricular unit "European Citizenship and Human Rights" aims to address and analyse important issues related to the concept of European identity and citizenship in a constantly changing world, such as the historical evolution of the European project, the legal, political and institutional framework of the European Union and the debate over the relationship between human rights and citizenship inside and outside Europe.

Specific skills and objectives:

- Reflect over the concept of European citizenship and its historical evolution;

- Comprehend the legal, political and institutional framework of the European Union;

- Understand the relevance of European citizenship and its affinity with human rights in a global world;

- Discuss the main theories of European integration and develop research and critical analysis skills on the proposed theme.

3. The Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union

4. The impact of citizenship on EU internal and external policies

5. Human rights and European citizenship

Teaching Methodologies

The work methodology used in this curricular unit includes the presentation of the syllabus by the professor; the individual study of students and the realization of various debates scheduled according to each theme.

Evaluation:

Participation in the debates 30%

Written work (and oral presentation) 70%
