Objectives

Provide studentS with the theoretical and practical knowledge about the composition, structure and morpho functional organization of mammalian tissues and in specific situations of bird , fish and reptile ; General Histology : cell, tissue composition and organization of the componentes of systems and appliances in domestic animals. Thus the foundation of knowledge essential to the study of curricular Units like of Veterinary Histology Special, General Pathology and Pathological Anatomy, among others should be provided . At the end of the school year, students should have a basic understanding of the composition , organization and main functions of the different constituent tissues of domestic animals and should be able to identify and characterize, by observation by photonic microscopy, histological preparations of various anatomical elements studied over year.

Program

Review of major morpho functional aspects of animal cell. Methods studied animal histology. Introduction to the study of histology. Concept of ' tissue '. Structure, histological organization, origin and aspect morpho functional epithelial tissue (glandular coating and endocrine and exocrine), connective tissue itself, connective tissue with special properties, specialized connective tissue, the tissue muscle (smooth and striated - cardiac and skeletal ) and nervous tissue. Establishment and organization of the major elements of the central and peripheral nervous system.

Teaching Methodologies

Theoretical analysis of the syllabus through multimedia projector.
Practicals :
Exposure tand analysis of histological preparations through a multimedia projector coupled to a optical microscope Each student has access to a microscope , and a collection of histological preparations from all tissues studied .

The theoretical component consists of an evaluation test, with questions true or false and / or multiple choice.

The practical component is to identify a set of tissues , cells and tissue components , by projecting photos / images of histological preparations of matter assessed in the theoretical test.
Students will be assessed in two ways :
a) Continuous Assessment
b ) Assessment by examination
