Famílias e Políticas Sociais

Objectives

Pretende-se que o estudante de mestrado seja capaz de:
1.Dominar perspetivas e conceitos das Ciências Sociais e Humanas que lhe permitam analisar questões relativas à família, numa ótica interdisciplinar.
2.Reconhecer a pluralidade de modelos familiares, através de uma abordagem histórica e socio antropológica.
3.Explicar a dinâmica familiar, nomeadamente, as alterações dos laços e dos papéis sociais, ao longo dos tempos.
4.Evidenciar conhecimentos aprofundados sobre a realidade da família ocidental, nomeadamente no contexto europeu e, em especial, no português.
5. Enquadrar a problemática da família nas políticas sociais em vigor, tendo por base a conjugalidade, o divórcio, a parentalidade e o combate às desigualdades sociais.
6.Refletir de forma crítica e fundamentada sobre representações e discursos acerca da família.

Program

3.Recognize the plurality of family types through an historical and socio-anthropological approach.
4.Explain family dynamics, namely changes in ties and social roles over time.
5.Show in-depth knowledge about the reality of the Western family, namely in the European and, in particular, in Portuguese context.
6.To frame the family problem in the current social policies, based on conjugality, divorce, parenting and the fight against social inequalities.
7. Reflect critically and based on representations and discourses about the family.

Teaching Methodologies

In Part I, the lectures will combine the presentation of content, with document analysis followed by discussion by students. The participation of the master's students in the seminars will correspond to 10% of the grade related to Part I. The remaining 40% will result from the elaboration of a critical review on an article, book chapter (s), related to the contents covered and chosen. by the students. In Part II, the expository sessions will be based on demographic data, recent studies on family dynamics and research on the topics. At each session, students will be invited to the debate, with 10% of the final grade. The remaining 40% will correspond to the writing of a text in a scientific article, on a topic of Part II, where further evidence is provided. about the contemporary family. Each part, assessed by the teacher in charge, is equivalent to 50% of the final grade.
