2. Know the types of thematic and informational structure.
3. Present a structured discourse (oral and written).
4. Interpret and produce different genres of discourse.
1. Theoretical and critical reflection on the following linguistic aspects of discourse organization:
a) Cohesion;
b) Conceptual connectivity (or coherence);
c) Informational structure and thematic structure.
2. Study of oral discourse and written discourse, taking into account:
a) linguistic and communicative mechanisms structuring of oral discourse structure;
b) the structuring and operation of written discourse.
3. Synchronic analysis and exemplification of different genres of discourse organization:
a) Review (newspaper)
b) Dissertation
c) Report
d) Advertising
The course has a theoretical component, which includes the presentation of concepts and theories about discourse analysis, along with a practical component, in which students are asked to do multiple exercises using the theoretical concepts previously introduced.
Students are evaluated based on their participation in class and homework (20%), a work to be presented in the classroom (30%) and a written test (50%).
