The main objective of the Management course unit is to introduce students to a set of concepts and tools that will enable them tounderstand the nature of the systemic and integrated functioning of organizations, and evaluate the multidisciplinary methods and resources necessary for their operation. It is intended that students become empowered with the skills that enable them to contribute active and positively to the sustainable growth of organizations, with a particular focus on the following aspects: Culture, ethics, and organizational structure; Accounting and Financial Analysis; Investment Appraisal; Planning and Strategic Management;Marketing Fundamentals. The application of the knowledge acquired is valid for both firms in activity, and entrepreneurial projects,like start-ups resulting from Innovation & Technology Development. The course integrates the simulation management game IST Management Challenge (ISTMC).

In a first phase, the teacher exposes the main ideas of the topics covered, thus opening the way for a dialogue with the students, where the various topics are explored as well as the personal experiences of the class with relevance to the topics covered.
The teacher uses various media to communicate, in order to reinforce and make the acquisition of knowledge more efficient, namely texts, PowerPoint presentations and videos.
In order to develop critical analysis skills, identification and problem solving, the teacher will use case studies, role-play and simulation. The consolidation of the themes covered in this course is enhanced in a final phase with the project of the course developed by the students in groups.
