Objectives

1. Know the reference framework necessary for rational decision-making in matters of the financial field in touristic organizations;
2. Know the main tools and techniques of financial analysis for touristic organizations;
3. Understand the notion of value and its calculation formulas;
4. Know all phases of touristic organization’s financial planning process, considering current and strategic investment and financing decisions;
5. Understand the efficient cash management for touristic organizations; and
6. Understand the implications that financial management has on touristic organization's overall strategy.

Teaching Methodologies

Theoretical and practical classes based on the resolution of a pre-selected collection of exercises.  In all classes its privileged the interaction between teacher/student so that we can maximize the level of students' knowledge assimilation and simultaneously adjust the level of the disseminated knowledge. It is favoured the use the expositive and explicative method, using frequently the dialogue with students. It is also registered the use of graphical schemes, illustrations allusive to real situations in touristic organizations, external information sources and practical application of theoretical concepts in a joint work regime.  The student’s normal final examination is based on one group assignment upon one or more topics from syllabus and one written tests, with 35% and 65% assignment, respectively. The student’s exam final examination is based on one written exam, with 100% assignment.
