Objectives

To promote the development of basic skills on Epidemiology applied to Veterinary Sciences, by the knowledge of concepts, methods and measures of animal disease.

Program

1. The scope o f Epidemiology: definition, components and application. 2. Concepts and general principles of Epidemiology. 3. Types of epidemiological investigation: descriptive, analytical, experimental and theoretical epidemiology 4. Determinants of disease. 5. Transmission and maintenance of infections. 6. Occurrence of diseases: measures and mapping. 7. Ecology and patterns of disease. 8. Nature, sources, management and presentation of epidemiological data. 9. Surveys and sampling. 10. Observational studies and clinical trials. 11. Diagnostic tests. 12. Control and eradication fo diseases. 

Teaching Methodologies

Lectures (T) and practical classes (LP). Seminars (S ).
Written examination. Students must enroll at least 24 hours before.
