Special Veterinary Histology

Objectives

The main goal of Veterinary Histology Special 's is the study of the composition and histological organization of the organs. This study aims not only the knowledge of the microscopic anatomy of the elements, but also a perspective
that associate the histological characteristics of these elements in their functions. Thus we seek to provide background knowledge essential to the study of other Ucs such as Physiology, General Pathology and Pathological Anatomy.
At the end of the semester, students must have an understanding of the histology of different organs and should be able to identify and characterize, by microscopic observation, histological preparations of the various anatomical elements studied throughout the semester. 

Program

Composition a nd histological organization of the anatomical elements that constitute the various systems and apparatus. The nervous system and musculoskeletal system are studied in the first semester, associated with nerve tissue and connective tissue. The last point of the program is dependent on the number of actual classes of the
semester.

Teaching Methodologies

THEORETICAL LESSONS:
A weekly class 2 h long. In addition to the general bibliography recommended, a few days before each lesson, students
have access to the handouts from the multimedia presentation of the lecture, so they can better follow and participate
in the class.
PRACTICAL LESSONS:
Materials: a triocular mic roscope , connected to a multimedia system for video projection and each student has at its disposal a microscope and a collection of histological preparations of the organs under study.
Whenever possible the practical study of the main elements of a system is made in the week fol lowing its study in the
theoretical lecture.
Theoretical assessm ent: 1 test (multiple choice questions) and two pratical evaluations (microscopic exam and discussion of four slides each), students must have at least 9,0 values and an average score of 9,5 to get approval.
Final classification = Tx0,5+Px0,5
