To expose the students to the research projects developed in the area at the level of the Center for Humanistic Studies of the University of the Azores and the Center for Interdisciplinary Studies of the University of Coimbra in which the plurality of professors of study cycle are integrated.

To acquire the competences that are necessary for the drafting of a research project though the compulsion of a series of methodologies and techniques.

To furnish students with an occasion to present and to defend the working hypotheses that they develop along their research with a view towards the preparation of their respective thesis.

Program

Adopting a structured, coherent and integrative strategy of the study cycle, as a whole, the working sessions constitute as many opportunities of exposition of the students to scientific research.

Underlying all working sessions we find the proposal of drafting a research project, seeking to furnish to assist and support the students in the preparation of their thesis.

Teaching Methodologies

In the curricular unit, we privilege working session in the form of seminaries, with presentation and discussion of the work previously developed. We also seek to promote the conditions that may allow each student to discuss, comment and argue the work of their colleagues.

Bibliography

For each working sessions we select fundamental texts from the scientific domain of International Relations that are particularly relevant to the interests and themes of work of the students.

In parallel, we also resort to current affairs, as covered both by the generalist media and by the major scientific journals.
