Objectives

1.To reflect about the principles that regulate discursive interaction.

2.To deepen the knowledge about techniques of oral and written communication.

3.To consolidate grammatical knowledge.

4.To develop oral and writing communication skills.

5. To plan and produce, efficiently and correctly, different types of texts.

Program

1. Oral and written communication.

1.1. The act of communicating.

1.2. Oral expression: the art of speaking in public.

1.3. Written expression: steps and principles of the writing process.

1.4. Reading techniques. Text interpretation.

1.5. Performativity. Assertivity. Empathy.

 

2. Technical and professional Portuguese.

2.1. Compositional heterogeneity of texts.

2.2. Style and discourse.

2.3. Written works typology: presentation letter; curriculum vitae; application; protocol; recension; report; project; etc.

2.4. Scientific text.

2.5. Literary text.

 

3. Grammatical topics.

3.1. Spelling. Accent. Orthoepy.

3.2. Morphosyntax.

3.3. Semantics and lexicon.

3.4.Punctuation.

 

4. Planning and production of oral and written statements.

4.1. Fundamental characteristics of utterances: clarity, coherence, harmony, correction.

4.2. Selection and schematization of information.

4.3. Rules of textual cohesion (speech articulators). Organization of periods and paragraphs.

Teaching Methodologies

Classes will be theoretical and practical. The presentation of new contents will be followed by solving exercises and its application in the production of various types of texts. Reading and commenting on different texts will be provided, as well as watching short videos. Monitorization of students will be assured through moodle.
