It is intended that the student cement their knowledge of plant pathology and entomology. It will be available to the student the tools necessary for the adoption of the principles of Integrated Protection and paying particular attention to its main components such as the risk estimation , use of the NEA and the careful choice of many safeguards , the content and the required field notebooks.
In addressing IPM is complete Integrated still training in this field of students, systematizing the way he will approach any disease problem that arises in any culture giving the right tools for decision making in this area allowing, so prepare you for the practical life as a technician.
In practical classes aims to give the student a perspective of reality, through contact with cultures and with different pest problems addressed in the present theoretical course.

Classes practical comprising the practical exemplification of the estimated risk of some pests:
- in Citrus groves, Banana, apple trees , olive and chestnut trees
- In pasture plots,
- In vineyard plots,
- A practical exemplification carrying out a phytosanitary inspection.
- Contact with the usefulness of the application of traps for the monitoring and the practical application of Geographic Information Systems tools ( GIS).
Lectures with oral exposure of the issues included in the unit program, using the use of slides in power point files previously available to students on a site of a server ( www.gpi.angra.uac / acetatos) ; Classes of students contact practices with the reality of different cultures and their present phytosanitary problems as well as contact with the producers, technicians of agricultural services and producer associations, and identification by the student of these problems.
