Objectives

The student will learn the following concepts, the reasons and scientific context: components of a GIS, data, hardware, software, human resources, raster and vector data structures, databases, data models, organizing geographic information, flows data including the input of spatial and non-spatial data link between the two data types, checking, testing, adjusting and output of data, analysis and modeling in GIS functions including organization of spatial data for analysis, maintenance and analysis of spatial and non-spatial data, access / classification / measurement operations "overlay", neighborhood and connectivity functions and modeling.

Teaching Methodologies

The theoretical program of the course is organized into thematic blocks and is supported by projections of the topics of materials as well as allusive illustrations, while the practical component will be mainly dedicated to the implementation of a GIS project using a commercial software.
