1 - Apply the conceptual framework of Psychology, mainly Educational Psychology, to the analysis of educational issues.

2 - Apply the results of scientific research in Psychology to the analysis of educational issues.

3 - Do research in the field of School Psychology.

4 - Understand the relevance of sharing research results with other students.


This curricular unit is open in terms of issues to be addressed / investigated by students, provided that those issues are framed and justified in the field of EducationalPsychology or the role of

psychologists in educational enviroments. The teacher suggests some issues of a:

1. Socio-cognitive nature (eg., learning processes and socio-emotional dimensions).

2. Behavioural nature (eg., discipline and behavior problems, risk behaviors in educational settings, relationships in school).

3. Emotional nature (for example, performance anxiety, emotional management of stress and conflict).

Teaching Methodologies

This curricular unit is organized in large group lessons and tutorial classes, on an alternate basis. The first are initially more teacher-centered, but quickly get student-centered. Students report to the class on their readings and research projects. These classes are based in dialogue and questioning between students and between teacher and students. Tutorial classes are meant to monitor students’ research projects and help them discuss methodology and results.
