Objectives

It is intended that students acquire knowledge on the evolution of protecting plants, plant pathology , agricultural entomology, weed science , pharmacology and the different plant protection strategies.

The knowledge gained will enable the student to grasp fundamental concepts : protection of plants; Understanding morphology and bio-ecology of the main groups of harmful organisms responsible for damage to plants (pathogens , pests and weeds) ; Introduction to the diagnosis of diseases; Recognition of the main pests of plants and weeds of agricultural crops and invasive species ; General aspects of phytopharmaceuticals and first contact with the different strategies and crop protection means.

Teaching Methodologies

Lectures oral exposure of the issues, using the use of slides in power point files previously available to students on a site of a server ( www.gpi.angra.uac / acetates ). Practices classes where of the students will contact with the reality of different cultures and phytosanitary problems, recalling its taxonomic framework and the basic concepts of protecting plants and survey and identification by the student of these problems , with their subsequent laboratory analysis.
