Objectives

To know conceptual elements related to the intervention in catastrophe.
2. Acknowledge national and regional international guidelines on the organization and management of response to exceptional / crisis situations.
3. Acknowledge the SBVD and SAVC algorithms and their applications.
4. To discuss the role of the health professional, especially the nurse, and the other protagonists involved in the disaster scenario, as well as the strategies of action, based on scientific evidence and the ethical, deontological and legal framework.
5. Demonstrate trauma techniques to ensure the safety of the victim.

Program

Nursing in emergencies and catastrophes refers to the care provided by nurses in approaching a person in a critical situation / trauma or life-threatening situation.
Prehospital medical emergencies have evolved considerably with regard to the quality of care as well as its efficacy, and there has been a gradual concern to bring differentiated support to places where the victims suffer an accident or sudden illness.
This curricular unit has the purpose of providing the beginning of the acquisition of knowledge that allows the student of nursing to develop in this disciplinary area so as to provide excellence care during the resuscitation maneuvers, as well as to evaluate and act with speed and precision in situations of traumatology, determining the presence of injuries that endanger the life of the victim (s), valuing the first approach in assistance in multivictim situations.

Teaching Methodologies

This curricular unit has a theoretical, theoretical-practical and practical component.
Taking into account the principles of adult education and training and the philosophy behind the Bologna Process, student-centered, theoretical and practical sessions will be mobilized through expositive, participatory, active and demonstrative methodologies and simulation, Role playing, according to the type of class.

The different pedagogical methodologies were selected in order to respond to the objectives, competences and recommended content of this curricular unit.
They focused on participatory methodology on the part of the student so that he feels involved and is promoter of his learning and thus can be successful.
