Objectives

It is intended that students, at the end of the course, are able to:

- Understand the multidimensional development of adults in an advanced age;

- Characterize the models, theories and approaches related to aging;

- Understand the psychological variables involved in the transition to retirement;

- Analyse the variables involved in both subjective well-being and psychological well-being in adulthood and older adulthood;

- Recognize the changes in cognitive functions, namely in intelligence(s), memory(ies), attention and information processing;

- Characterize the most frequent dementias;

- Promote the application of knowledge, in order to develop cognitive stimulation activities;

- Raise awareness of the difficulties and limits of psychological assessment in the field of Psychogerontology;

- Know how to apply knowledge, in order to optimize the critical and research sense in promoting active aging.
