Objectives

The course aims to start students on knowledge of the different stages of the development of cultural anthropology Azorean from the nineteenth century, identifying producers, methodological assumptions, modes of expression and forms of communication of this knowledge in their ideological and socio-political contexts.

At the University of the Azores, the institutionalization scientific-disciplinary, with bases museum, a cultural anthropology of the archipelago has contributed to the creation of dynamic teaching and learning focused on knowledge of the cultures in the context of Azorean Portuguese cultural areas, enabling students to professional performance in multiple industries, including managing cultural, heritage and tourism.

1. INTRODUCTION TO ANTHROPOLOGY OF THE AZORES.

1.2. Ethnography, Art and regionalism in the twentieth century.

1.3. The thesis degree in Romance Philology (Lisbon) and Portuguese Linguistics (Coimbra).

1.4. The theses in Human Geography, School of the University of Lisbon and Coimbra.

1.5. The ethnological museology in democratic autonomy.

1.6. The ethnological Anthropology and Museology at the University of the Azores.

Teaching Methodologies

Lectures interrelating theoretical presentations, presentation and discussion of works particularly significant in the construction of cultural anthropology Azores. Close monitoring, continuous and dedicated work done by the students on issues of island cultures.
