Objectives

Students should be able to:
-Know the physical principles, benefits and risks of the different imaging techniques
-Describe the main guidelines for each technique
-Identify imaging anatomy for the different techniques
-Describe changes of the image, recognizing their fundamental physiopathological mechanisms
-Propose an imaging test after collecting the clinical history
Objectives at the level of clinical skills:
-Use imaging as a diagnostic tool, developing skills necessary for the correct referral
-Interpret basic imaging tests generally not supervised by Radiologists
Objectives at the level of attitudes:
-Understand the experience felt by the patient in a specific test
-Apply the principles of cost-benefit and cost-effectiveness in the prescription of imaging tests
-Understand the role of imaging in clinical decision
-Recognize the benefits of multidisciplinary integration of the information provided by means of diagnostic
imaging

Teaching Methodologies

Theoretical classes:
Delivered in a e-learning system by means of a DVD that was created by the curricular unit. There is the possibility of a personal revision. Students' questions are accepted by e-mail. Additional lecturing classes that approach subsidiary topics of radiological training, senology, intervention, radiation protection and neuroradiology.

Practical Classes:
Based on theoretical presentations, teaching by means of problem solving and discussion of topics. Visits to the radiology department so that students become familiar with the diagnostic and therapeutic techniques.

Assessment:
Exam:50%
Midterm exam:15%+15%+10%
Seminar or study visit report:2,5%
Other:7,5% (colaboração activa nas aulas práticas avaliado pelo assistente)
