Technological change and the legal changes contribute to alteroften the relationship between the skills possessed by the individual and those required by the labor market. The curricular unit aims at providing students with knowledge that enables them to identify the mode of operation of the labor market and the role of qualifications. They must be also able to identify how technological change or even legal changes help create misalignment between what is required by the job and owned by the employee, leading to the need for lifelong retraining or even at the time of the transition between school and the labor market. Students should be able to identify the main benefits associated with the rehabilitation process throughout the labor market experience, understand the role of the market and public institutions in this process, identify the sources of financing as well as the organizations involved in reskilling processes in Portugal. Teaching Methodologies

Teaching is composed by a mix of theoretical and practical classes. Each chapter begins with one or even more questions put to the students, where the teacher listens during some minutes their opinion and tries to drive them, if such is necessary, towards a thought nearly to what will be taught in the theoretical class. The exposition of the chapter is then done by the teacher after this previous auscultation. Practical cases are aimed at solving exercises, commenting cases and discussing specific situations. Evaluation is based upon two written exams, which include exercises and cases or situations to comment.
