Objectives

This course seeks to provide students with knowledge so they can understand the main functions and processes of human resource management.

Since this is an area of knowledge required for the development of any organization’ support, get to know and master the key processes of human resource management function has proved to be increasingly important, even under the constant mutations found in organizations and its environment.

It is intended, after completing the course, students to be able to:

1. Have a perception of the main trends of HRM;

2. Highlight the importance of human resources as a strategic factor of the organizations;

3. Assimilate the main practices that support HRM;

4. To acquire a critical attitude on the main challenges and trends facing the HRM;

5. Encourage critical and analytical thinking, by analysing problematic HRM issues using the case study methodology.

Teaching Methodologies

The privileged methodologies for the theoretical disciplines’ component are the exposure, the explanation, the audio-visual and question/dialogue. After presented and discussed the topics in study, students will be able to apply the knowledge acquired. The courses’ practical component allows the consolidation of knowledge and the application of the same through the analysis of texts, case studies, role-play and simulation, varying methodologies according to their applicability to the subject under investigation.
