Objectives

1. To identify specific traits and common aspects in project work and in educational design;
2. To characterize educational contexts that need to be addressed via project work and educational design;
3. To relate the epistemological foundations of project work to the characteristics of different kinds of educational problems;
4. To distinguish the process of educational design from the process of researching it;
5. To explore the possibility of using research-based approaches to project work, following the principles of educational design research, to address educational problems.

1. Project work – historical roots, epistemological foundations and development stages
2. Educational design – epistemological framework and development stages
3. Educational design research in the context of educational research in general
4. The potential of project work, educational design and educational design research as ways of addressing educational problems
5. Educational design as a succession of prototypes of a product under development
6. Dimensions taken into consideration in the process of educational design – (content and construction) validity, practicality (usability) and effectiveness
7. Assessment methods commonly used in educational design – micro-evaluation, testing, screening, expert appraisal

Teaching Methodologies

Através da leitura de relatórios de trabalho de projeto produzidos noutros contextos e de textos alusivos à aplicação do design educacional – mais ou menos sustentado em investigação – na resolução de problemas educativos, os alunos serão familiarizados com estas abordagens, de modo a elaborarem um Plano de Trabalho de Projeto (PTP), que constituirá o principal objeto de avaliação no âmbito desta unidade curricular e que poderá (ou não) ter continuidade no segundo ano do ciclo de estudos. Assim, serão considerados os seguintes elementos de avaliação, com indicação do respetivos pesos na classific. final:

1. Análise e discussão de textos teóricos, relatórios de trabalhos de projeto e de textos alusivos a trabalhos de (investigação do) design educacional – 40%

2. Primeira versão provisória do PTP e discussão da mesma com os docentes e com os colegas – 10 % 3. Segunda versão provisória do PTP e discussão da mesma com os docentes e com os colegas – 15 % 4. PTP, na sua versão final – 35 %
