Objectives

Students will face a project that is related with a major historical trend of the society they live in (emigration), which is also entangled with the structural dynamic of the western contemporary societies (great transatlantic migrations of the 19th and 20th centuries).

The development of the project will provide them the following skills:

1. Knowledge of the scientific literature on the field of migration studies.

2. Research experience on the area of printed sources (daily newspapers from the late 19th and early 20th centuries)

3. Management and familiarity with archival sources related with the subject of their research project.

A single final report (30-50 pages) will be the main basis for the evaluation, but progress of the work during the course of the research, as well as the students engagement on the project, will also be evaluated.
