The Master in Social Policies and Regional Dynamics is structured to give students a deeper knowledge in the area of social sciences, particularly sociology, to which are also associated other areas of knowledge. The current version of this master, adapted to the Bologna process, consolidates the theoretical and methodological components, and this also fits the diversity of scientific areas seeking this Masters, directed for Social Policies. It is thought, therefore, that this is the best way to meet the needs and interests of students, which are not homogeneous, and to help foster different strategies to lead the students to acquire skills of independent learning, to search for solutions at professional level, and for reading data about new realities, both at regional, national and at international level.
The learning objectives of this master are, firstly, to deepen themes and knowledge acquired in undergraduate studies. In particular, the general issues of methodology, social inequalities, social structures and social policy analysis are highlighted, as well as the areas of knowledge related to each of the specialties of this master. It is intended that students become able to produce autonomously scientific and technical work, in order to correspond to the evaluation objectives of the master and at the same time to improve their professional skills. Finally, it is intended that they acquire the competence to conduct an important independent scientific or technical work, embodied in the master thesis, and other works of this type, that they will be required throughout their professional life.
