Establish a link between Philosophy for Children and the areas of Literature for Children and Artistic Expressions, as potential stimuli to build philosophical dialogue in the community of philosophical inquiry. To understand Philosophy for Children as a philosophical and an educational proposal for a citizenship model, committed and responsible, with impact on the integral formation of the human being. To develop an independent and original academic research in the philosophical field of Philosophy for Children.
To understand the assumptions underlying the different approaches to Philosophy for Children. To recognize the role of Philosophy for Children in cognitive, affective and social development of human beings. To identify the relevance of multidimensional thinking (critical, creative and caring). To acquire the methodological tools of philosophical reflection for specific training in Philosophy for Children. To develop specific skills of facilitating a rigorous philosophical dialogue with children. To develop collaborative learning using synchronous and asynchronous technologies, and integrating the acquired knowledge in professional practice. To develop an independent and original academic research in Philosophy for Children.
May apply for the master's degree: a) Degree holders or legally equivalent qualifications, in the areas of Portuguese philosophy and culture, philosophy, basic education, childhood education, psychology, as well as in areas related to education and social intervention with children and young people; b) Holders of a school, scientific or professional curriculum that is recognized by the scientific council as attesting to the ability to carry out the master's degree.
Despite not assuming a professional nature, the Master's course aims to provide professionals already trained with the philosophical-educational tools necessary to promote an active attitude in the processes of training children and young people. In this context, it is addressed to a wide range of professionals, allowing an alternative approach to traditional teaching-learning processes and promoting an effective monitoring of the practice of philosophical thinking with groups of children.
