The Master program is designed to provide the knowledge and skills needed to become an effective manager. In addition to seeking to raise regional business skills and performance levels, this program intends to provide advanced training to teachers in the field of scientific management. It is a wide based offer, more career advancement degree than technical training for a specific job within a business. Therefore the broad goals of the program are: provide students with up-to-date foundations in content and competencies that will support their development as effective managers in a variety of organizational settings; promote the adoption and use of analytical tools for decision making in a business world of complex business issues and problems; develop skills of leadership, critical and decision making, and effective oral and written communication essential to managers in a variety of organizational settings. The second year includes the compilation of a research work.

Objectives

The main objectives of the Master in Business/MBA are providing a generic training in management and in a variety of techniques and support instruments in order to develop/increase in students’ leadership and decision-making capacities as well a transversal knowledge of organization functions. These goals are operated at three levels: 1. Technical domain: involves the set of technical scientific knowledge necessary for understanding and expertise in general management; 2. Theoretical referential domain: comprises the theoretical references in each main function addressed, the methodologies, techniques and instruments which will enable the correct action, decision, and individuals development in a daily-work context; 3. Practical domain: involves fostering autodidactic learning ability.

Admission Requirements

Can apply to the master program: a) Holders of a bachelor's degree, or legal equivalent; b) Holders of a foreign higher academic degree or legal equivalent, conferred following a 1st cycle of studies organized according to the principles of the Bologna Process by a State adhering to the Process; c) Holders of a higher academic degree, recognized as satisfying the objectives of the degree of licenciatura by the Scientific Council of UAc; d) Holders of a school, scientific or professional curriculum, recognized by the UAc Scientific Council as providing capacity to realize a master's degree.

Management: general director, management advisor, management advisor in any functional area or division, management consultant; Marketing: director or marketing consultant; Finance and control: financial director, assistant to the financial director, controller and project analyst; Human resources: director, assistant director or human resources consultant.
