It has as objectives: a) to update and increase knowledge in the various fields of biomedical sciences; b) to promote the acquisition of skills in the field of biotechnology applied to health; c) to promote research and entrepreneurship in the field of Biomedical Sciences. For students of the University of the Azores completing the 1st cycle in Biological and Health Sciences, the Master in Biomedical Sciences presents itself as the natural continuation of the journey made at the graduation level, ensuring that UAc offers its students the possibility of address the suggestion of the Biologists Association, which recommends accomplishing five years of training (equivalent to 300 ECTS) as a basis for professional practice.
The Master aims to empower students with the necessary knowledge in fundamental and applied areas of Biomedical Sciences, equipping them with skills that can represent added value in the job market. Objectives are: update and deepen knowledge in the various fields of biomedical sciences; Promote the acquisition of skills in the field of biotechnology applied to health; Promote research and entrepreneurship. CU are grouped into thematic modules, allowing the development of knowledge and skills in an integrated way. In all CU discussion of the themes to be developed is privileged, using the latest information on international scientific publications and information obtained in the scientific activity of the teachers integrated in research centres. The definition of assessment strategies to be implemented takes into account the best way to ensure the effective fulfilment of the objectives in each course.
